It's an oven

Or at least that's what it feels like of late.

According to the weather wallies on the boob tube, we've entered the dog days of summer. All I know is that it's HOT, HOT, HOT out there.

The beginning of the week it actually got up to 100F while the rest has been cooler at 95-99F and with the humidity it makes it feel hotter.

As my shed is of metal construction it's like a sauna in there even with fans blowing. Ten minutes or so of even light work leaves you dripping sweat.

And as enjoyable as a summer ride would be, the temperature of the air, the engine heat and the roads combined makes it less than bearable at times.

So I can't wait for the autumn to get here so it cools down things and aren't so HOT, HOT, HOT anymore....until next year.

  1. Guess we have been lucky out Nor'West. Been reasonably cool lately for the season. The evenings, just lovely. Hot tin shed...yikes! Maybe some insulation would help? Look on the bright side...engines warm up quicker...uhhh paint dries faster...? Yeah hot weather riding really is no fun. Now that lot in Scotland...seems GBC and her mates are always bundled up and wearing mittens and mufflers and stuff...better bring a sweater or two when you go over. Back to the grindstone...Hairy Larry

  3. Insulation would be a good thing to add in there and paint drying faster is be a good thing as well HL. I'll get around to it soon
Really it's not too bad, just the heat combined with roughly 60% humidity makes it uncomfortable...especially when you're out in it for 5-6 hours daily and the vehicle you drive for work is made of aluminum with just a small fan to keep cool. Like being in an oven.

  4. I see..The vans are kinda like convection ovens...at least your done evenly...About a week ago I was talking to a local mailman at the gas station where we were both filling up. I made a comment about the "new" van he was driving. He tells me that the air-conditioned vans they had were taken away, and they were issued vans that they had moth-balled in the 70's...maybe like yours? My work vehicle for 13 years was an old Chevy without air, and now that I'm close to retiring I get a new truck with AC, not complaining...it can be a real reviver when you've been working out in the heat. Our cool weather still holding....keep cool CB. HL

  5. Seems to be a few minor changes in the blog format.......keeping cool is the big thing Larry.

Drinking PLENTY of ice water is the biggest along with parking in the shade. But it's still not enough when it's about 97F outside and around 120F inside the truck.
