The best medicine

Besides a nice Scotch is to be in the shed and working on oned of the nails, er, bikes. So that is what I did for a bit earlier.

After the wee bout with prescribed meds that can turn yours truly into a wacko along with possible highish BP, working on the bikes seemed to be a better way to deal with things than Doctors doing their jiggery pokery voodoo on me with magic pills.

So armed with a hacksaw blade, Bodger commenced to removing the wee indexing dowels that are in the inner and outer timing covers.

As you may remember from a few posts back, I got myself another timing cover and when I went to dry fit it to the motor, wee indexing dowels, both in corresponding places, made it impossible to mount everything flush.

So the hacksaw blade came out and did it's job. The with a small file to dress things up, Bob's yer uncle and things are just peachy in Bodgers shed now.

This is just a dry fit to see if there's anything amiss and so far it seems to be OK.

More parts are needed of course and that'll be an ongoing thing like any good project. Just like any project, it's the hunt for stuff required that makes it all worthwhile.

  1. Bodger, the workshop looks tidy and the project starting to look like it's on it's way. Enjoy your time off. Good idea to check all your fit-ups. So many times in the past, especially when I wrenched for a livin'...it was rush, rush... lash it up and hope she goes. It's been so many years since I've done a complete ground up job. Itching to get going on my "British Classics" again. It's fun to watch the blogs and see peoples projects coming along. Like a poster I saw on a blog, recently... said..."Stay calm, and carry on". 3. Things are looking braw alright.

Still have a few moments getting miffed at work but nothing serious.

Have put in an application as a Drivers Safety Trainer at work on as needed basis.

Basically training new hires on operate our glorious aluminum boxes so they can deliver mail. Something to put on the resume/CV to make things look good and impressive.

Just picked up a heat shield for the silencer. Now need to get the silencer and exhaust header to go with it.

So yer Gorgeousness, Cubbies acting up a little? What's ailing him (her?)?

  4. Hey Bodge, nothing really, just Cubbie's owner causing the problems! Look at your neat and tidy workshop!

  6. Hey Bodger, Saw a news report about fires in most counties of Texas. Is this affecting your neck of the woods? Sounded pretty serious in some areas. HL

  7. Luckily no Larry, it's mostly out in west TX though there was a good fire going up in the Autin area a few days ago.

Sunday I was back of the shed burning some stuff (trash, not the other "stuff") and went in for a short while.

When I went back out, it was smoking like at a Cheech and Chong show and I saw that there was a smallish grass fire going. Luckily I had the hsoe there and got it dealt with.

No more of that wandering off stuff in the future. Will have to stay nearby with the Newcastle Brown and some marshmallows or hotdogs. :P
