Happy Birthday.....

......to us!!!!!!

Today is July 4th and it's the 235th anniversary of independence from Great Britain....or....our birthday.

Today people will be having BBQs, drinking beer, having games, etc to celebrate this once a year event. And at night, the places that allow such festivities will be having fireworks displays such as these:

But not in the area where Bodger lives. Seems that this area gets extremely dry due to the heat and lack of rain. So no fireworks displays at all this year. At all not even in the city or on the military bases
where things can be controlled.

So, if you want to see fireworks, and not the type that occur when you come stumbling in from the boozer hours after it's closed, the pics above will have to do ya.

In a few hours Bodger is going to go get a can or two of what is referred to here as beer and have a quiet day enjoying the day off, rearranging the garage and relaxing before heading back to the postal salt mines the morrow.

So.......................HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. Really?Somehow I thought Texas would have hugh fireworks displays...if anything it seems like there are too many out here in California. I'm in the Bay area right now and the last two nights the local people here have set off way too many illegal fireworks. Most of the dog owners around here are trying to sooth the fractured nerves of their pets. Maybe because of the extra wet weather we had this winter they are allowing it all to go on. 235 years, wow seems like just the other day we were celebrating the Bicentennial. After a ball game at the Oakland Coliseum, I could see an outrageous display from where I'm staying, and that was the 2nd of July. This place will probably be crazy tonight.

  2. Yep....it's way to dry in the area to let 'em. Even the fireworks sellers aren't open.

They're banned within the city limit, but people still bring 'em in and let them off.

But this year it's been way to dry and so has the grass. Don't think the fire departments could handle all the grass and house fires that would start up.
