Taking a seat

The latest item acquired is definitely looking a little ropey, but a new seat cover, some nice foam and it'll be looking as good as new.

As in all projects, the hunt continues for more parts; a good tank, engine parts, etc.

Love it!

  1. As long as the base is good you've got the start of a good seat.. I see its even got the chrome flashes on the sides. A cover and a trip to the car breakers for some foam out of an old car seat and your done

  2. Yer right Kawa.... a smallish hole in the base, not to serious.....a new cover and a trip to an auto upholsterer should do it.

The fittings for the flashes are a wee bit rusted, will have to be careful with those.

All in all not bad for around $42 with postage

  3. I'd say that seat is BAAD. (Beyond Armorall And Ducttape). Sorry, I've been at the wheel too long, traveling for mother's day. Can't remember which mag it was, having recently spent over 30 clams for several of them. One of the Classic oriented mags had an article on seat recovering, featuring R.K.Leighton...believe it was in "Classic Bike".

  4. Make that "Classic Bike Guide" for that seat article.CBG, not CB. And of course no one in their right mind would armorall a motorcycle seat...errrrrr, how do I know that?

  5. Think was in the last issue, which I think I have. Interesting article Larry which I think I'll have another gander at.

Armorall is not a good idea on a seat....did it on my Commando eons back....never again...Armorall that is, not a Commando which I would gladly have again.
