Who turned out the lights?

Yesterday while at the Doctors to get my blood pressure checked something happened.

When I got to the clinic just before 9AM it was gray and overcast but OK.

However, when I was finished and walking out the doors, it was jsut about pitch black and it was only 9:40AM...yes AM as in morning.

Here, see for yourself, don't pay any attention to the time stamp, the camera can't tell time to well:

The first three were taken in the clinic parking lot, the last was on the Interstate driving back to Chateau Bodger.

I know what your thinking, silly boy using a camera during nasty weather, but it was the only way to show the driving conditions.
time period

The storm came from the west where in some places it dumped, from what the news said, 8 inches of rain in a very short.

Which I guess in a way is good as the neck of the woods has been with rain in 3 months and there's been numerous large grasss fires of late. So I guess some good came from it.

  1. Jeepers, that's some sky. We've had two days of really sharp heavy showers, hailstones today for a few mins left the ground white. Last weekend it chucked it down and flooded many roads and fields. Yes, we need the rain, but little and often, not all in one go!

  3. Very impressive and dramatic. Sometimes Nature reminds us that we're not that significant.

Nothing that dramatic here recently but whenever we have extreme rain or fog and conditions of poor visibility, we also see examples of extreme stupidity in people not thinking to put their lights on. Usually people in silver cars, who are then almost invisible in fog or heavy rain. Do they not notice that most other vehicles have their lights on? And these are the same people that we hope will notice us on our motorbikes - scary, isn't it? "Sorry mate I didn't see you but it's nothing personal 'cos I don't notice much else either!"

  5. Some ominous skies there...Is that Stevie Ray's "Texas Flood" I hear in the background? Down in Monterey this weekend for nephews wedding, and some rain is predicted.
